   S.I. 366 of 2025 designates existing sectoral regulators, among them the Central Bank, the Data Protection Commission, and Coimisiún na Meán, as market surveillance authorities.

   Ireland’s regulators are in place. Five EU states still have none.

   Ireland now has 15 market surveillance authorities for the AI Act. This week MLex reported that five member states have yet to name any, more than a year after the August 2025 deadline. Firms that sell AI systems across the EU should expect uneven enforcement outside Ireland.

   Watch: whether the final Act makes the AI Office a market surveillance authority, as Article 70(2) requires of a single point of contact.
